My website will bring you up to date with the State Government, especially that which is relevant to Southport and the Gold Coast.
As the State Member for Southport I will provide information which I hope will assist you via this website. Please do not hesitate to suggest any improvements which you consider may provide a better service.
On this website you will find many useful links to other State Government websites and you can also read many Parliamentary speeches, news stories, press releases etc that don't always make it into the media.
By having access to information of local interest through my website we can continue to build strong links with our community and local businesses and assist them all for our mutual benefit. Please be assured that I will continue to work in the best interests of Southport. For a little more information about my background, please read my inaugural speech made in parliament in April 2001.
I am your voice in the Bligh Government. Ministerial Portfolio: After being re-elected I have been appointed by Premier Anna Bligh as the new Minister for Tourism and Fair Trading. This role will also include the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. I am looking forward to the challenge of the position and will work to promote Queensland as the great state it is. Please follow my experiences and all the latest information by visiting my Ministerial Portfolio page. Body Corporate: One of my biggest goals as minister has been to close the loophole affecting Lot Entitlements within the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997. I am glad to report progress is being made and the draft bill has been made avaliable for public consultation, closing on the 23rd September 2010. I encourage all interested parties to review the bill and make submissions on their thoughts. The bill can be viewed here.
