A new $10M Outback Australian tourism attraction in Tropical North Queensland would help boost visitors to the region, the Tourism Minister said today.
Peter Lawlor said The Australian Muster Experience which officially opened today would provide huge benefits to the Port Douglas and Mossman communities.
“This exciting attraction is set in the picturesque Whyanbeel Valley bordering the Daintree World Heritage National Park,” he said.
“Guests will be seated in a19th century-inspired outback station shed where they will be entertained by stockmen demonstrating their skills in horsemanship, whip cracking, stunt riding, traditional country songs and bush poetry.
“This attraction will create an unforgettable experience for tourists and bolster the local tourism industry by bringing more visitors to spend their tourist dollars.”
Mr Lawlor said The Australian Muster Experience added to the range of outstanding nature, adventure and Indigenous tourism cultural products in Tropical North Queensland.
Speaking at the official opening of The Australian Muster Experience, Parliamentary Secretary to Minister Lawlor, Steve Wettenhall, praised owner and creator Gordon Pringle.
“As one of the region’s largest landowners, Gordon wanted to provide a ‘true-blue’ experience at one of his biggest properties,” he said.
“For the past five years he has been focussed on developing this experience and today his dream has come true.
“Our world heritage reef and rainforest experiences have long been the cornerstone of tourism in Tropical North Queensland.
“In recent times, the region has developed a vast array of unique adventure experiences including jungle surfing, ballooning, scuba walking, ocean kayaking, wild water rafting and land yachting as well as authentic Indigenous cultural encounters.
“The Australian Muster Experience will enable visitors to Tropical North Queensland to experience the very best of Australia in the one destination.” Last changed: Oct 06 2009 at 2:58 PM
