Transport and Main Roads Minister Paul Lucas today announced work will start in April to upgrade a 550m section of Olsen Avenue - part of the Labrador-Carrara Road.
Mr Lucas said RoadTek Asset Services-South will carry out the work which is expected to take two months to complete.
"The existing road surface on the Olsen Avenue section through Labrador needs rehabilitation," Mr Lucas said.
"This project will ensure the safety of motorists as well as maintain a high level of service for this arterial route.
"The Labrador-Carrara Road is a major link between the Gold Coast Highway and the suburbs of the Gold Coast and it's important to address these areas.
"This project will consist of deep-lift asphalt road surface reconstruction.''
Member for Southport Peter Lawlor welcomed the upgrade as a great contribution to maintaining Gold Coast's roads infrastructure.
"This rehabilitation scheme is the third project of a continuing maintenance program to upgrade the Labrador-Carrara Road, Mr Lawlor said.
"I believe work will start on the Olsen Avenue section at Melia Court and extend south for 550m to Parklands Drive."
