In 2005-06, the Department of Housing has provided funding totalling $18,294,592 for the delivery of community housing programs to the Gold Coast region incorporating the electorates of Broadwater, Burleigh, Currumbin, Gaven, Mudgeeraba, Robina, Southport, and Surfers Paradise.
This funding includes:
• Funding of $1,410,732 for the provision of community housing under the Crisis Accommodation Program, Community Rent Scheme, Drug Court Residential Program, and Viability and Capacity Building Grants
• Funding of $1,773,123 for the Private Housing Assistance programs including Home Assist Secure, Home and Community Care Home Modifications, Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service Queensland
• Funding of $10,838,737 for capital grants to provide affordable housing
• Funding of $4,272,000 for community housing capital works activity to 31 March 2006 including:
- $1,408,000 for the construction of dwellings
- $2,810,000 for the purchase of existing dwellings
- $54,000 for general upgrades of existing dwellings.
A further $8,502,000 is forecast to be expended by the department to the end of this financial year including:
- $2,459,000 on construction activity
- $3,143,000 on acquisition of existing properties under contract
- $2,900,000 on acquisition of vacant land under contract.
Investigation into the acquisition of additional properties for the community housing program will continue throughout the year and, where appropriate, negotiations will proceed for the purchase of these properties. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 9:30 AM
