Member for Southport Peter Lawlor today announced the Gold Coast's three Home Assist Secure providers would share in more than $600,000 in one-off grants to help deliver services.

Mr Lawlor said the Gold Coast North, Central and South Home Assist Secure providers would receive $19,426, $21,681 and $23,395 on top of the $555,632, $417,007 and $355,912 in recurrent funding allocated to the groups in the recent State Budget.

"This is great news for these three Home Assist Secure service providers and the clients they serve," Mr Lawlor said.

"Home Assist Secure - managed by the Housing Department - plays a vital role in the Gold Coast community.

"It removes some of the practical housing-related difficulties experienced by the elderly and people with a disability who want to stay living in their homes for as long as possible."

Home Assist Secure provides free information and referrals about home maintenance, repairs, modifications, falls prevention and home security.

This latest financial boost for Home Assist Secure providers follows on from similar one-off grants totalling $3 million that were distributed to 29 providers across the state to enhance services in May.

"Home Assist Secure is doing a great job of helping elderly people and people with a disability people feel secure in their own homes for longer," he said.

"It is one of a number of private housing initiatives managed by the Department of Housing that provides housing assistance to Queenslanders."
