Guardian Angels Catholic Primary School is among 100 non-state schools sharing in more than $6.5 million in State Government funds for vital infrastructure.
Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor said the school would receive $8,500 towards the cost of sewer and water headworks and road widening.
"These funds are being provided under the Beattie Government's External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme to ensure necessary infrastructure works occur," Mr Lawlor said.
"The scheme helps new Catholic and Independent schools that are being development, or existing schools that are being upgraded.
"Under the scheme, our Government currently provides 50 per cent of the total project costs with the remainder of the funding raised by the schools and their local communities.
"The funds are used by schools to meet the costs of external infrastructure projects required by Local Government as part of the development.
"Projects include water supply, sewerage and drainage services, transport-related infrastructure such as car parking, pick-up and set-down areas and road works, and streetscape and headworks charges."
Education Minister, Rod Welford said the total value of the 120 projects receiving support through the latest External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme funding came to around $13 million.
"Our Government is committed to supporting all schools in maintaining these standards of facilities and services," Mr Welford said.
The distribution of funding under the scheme is recommended by the Queensland Catholic Capital Assistance Authority and the Independent Schools of Queensland Block Grant Authority. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 11:33 AM
