Questions Without Notice Questions without notice are asked of Ministers and answered during Question Time.
Mr LAWLOR:
Question:
My question is directed to the Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations. Can the minister advise the House of the progress of the TransLink go card rollout?
Mr MICKEL:
Answer:
I am delighted to tell this House that from 29 January to 27 February there have been 60,458 journeys using the go card. During this period, $342,909 has been loaded onto go cards. Since its inception over 6,000 passengers have qualified for the loyalty program, which means that after six trips in any one week the rest of the journey is half price. It is obvious to me that the go card is enjoying support because it is a convenient process.
I am pleased to report that the Liberal Party on the Gold Coast-and this question has been asked by a Gold Coast member-has its own idea about how a go card should work. I am advised that if a person is a councillor and/or a card-carrying member of the Liberal Party in the Gold Coast City Council elections, its definition of the go card is that a person standing against the Liberal Party team will go for free. Let us see who has already gone? Bob La Castra has been given his go card by the Gold Coast Liberals and he has gone. Wayne Moran, member of the Liberal Party-gone. He got his go card. Richard Towson-gone. He got his go card. Kristyn Boulton has been given her go card. She has gone. They have been working on it up here in Brisbane as well. After yesterday's debacle involving the member for Caloundra I have never seen a more delighted member than the member for Clayfield. There he was with a song in his heart, leaping around the place, sitting up there where the member for Moggill is. Even the Courier-Mail captured it. Those members who have been around for a while as I have would know that when there is a Liberal Party leader here and a Liberal Party member for Clayfield sitting right behind him, he is in trouble. In all my time here I have never, ever seen a Liberal Party member for Clayfield who would qualify for a loyalty program. That is the difference between our go cards: our go cards come with a loyalty program. Do honourable members think the member for Moggill would qualify for a loyalty program? He would not from the previous member for Robina. Do you reckon the member for Clayfield-any member for Clayfield from the Liberal Party-would qualify for a loyalty program?
For goodness' sake, all I can say is that he is out there, around the back, getting a go card to send you on your way. I have never seen a more dismal performance than the one you put on yesterday. Honestly, Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 9:48 AM
