The Gold Coast's nutraceutical and automotive industries today received an $82,300 funding boost under the latest round of Queensland Government grants.
Minister for State Development and Innovation, Tony McGrady, announced the funding as part of almost $260,000 to be shared Statewide by 14 companies and one industry association.
"Natural Remedies, Graybond trading as Bocar Automotive Products and Line Management have all received funding under the Queensland Industry Development Scheme (QIDS) which so far has provided funding for 187 grants on the Gold Coast worth more than $2.9 million since 1998," Mr McGrady said.
"The Queensland Industry Development Scheme aims to help companies to innovate, expand and employ more people. The funding provided to these companies has the potential to create up to 86 new jobs over the next three years, which is excellent news for the Gold Coast area."
Member for Burleigh, Christine Smith, and Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor, said they were pleased the State Government had recognised the potential of the Gold Coast's nutraceutical and automotive industries.
"It's great to see the State Government encouraging and supporting the Gold Coast's nutraceutical and automotive businesses," Mrs Smith said.
"This funding will assist in expanding these businesses, increasing employment opportunities, developing new international markets and improving business performance overall."
Mr Lawlor said the funding announcement confirmed the State Government's commitment to work with smart firms and industry sectors to maximise their growth by supporting projects that improve business performance.
"These companies fit the image of the Queensland Government's vision for the Smart State and there's no limit to how successful they can become," Mr Lawlor said.
The Gold Coast companies will use the funding to:
Line Management - $26,400 to design, oversee and commission the building of a world's best practice nutraceutical manufacturing facility on the Gold Coast and to provide laboratory and regulatory services under one roof.
Natural Remedies, Southport - $5,500 to implement a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) which will help the company become export ready.
Graybond, trading as Bocar Automotive Products, Burleigh Heads - $26,400 to gear up for expansion, having reached full manufacturing capacity at its current location.
QIDS was established in 1998 to help businesses compete in today's rapidly changing and highly competitive global marketplace.
Mr McGrady said over 1,300 QIDS grants worth more than $27 million had been approved for Queensland businesses since 1998.
