A Parkwood-based information technology company that develops software for the health care industry will receive Beattie Government support to promote its products globally.
Minister for Information Technology Policy Chris Cummins and the Member for Southport Peter Lawlor today announced CaraData as a successful applicant in the latest round of International Trade Show Assistance Program (ITSAP) grants.
"CaraData is one of 14 Queensland ICT and biotech companies to receive up to $5,000 to share their innovation and ingenuity with the rest of the world and find new export markets," they said.
Mr Cummins and Mr Lawlor said the Beattie Government introduced the International Trade Show Assistance Program in 2000 to help information and communications technology and biotech companies promote their products in the global marketplace.
"Trade shows and conferences help local businesses become world class competitors," they said.

Mr Cummins and Mr Lawlor said CaraData's specialist software Sexual Health Information Program (SHIP) helped doctors and clinics maintain data management and records in areas including sexual health, communicable diseases, HIV/AIDS and hepatitis C.
"The SHIP application, developed in partnership with Queensland Health, has tools to manage pathology and medical information systems, appointment scheduling and patient recall procedures," they said.
"Health clinics can also keep an audit trail of correspondence between doctor and patient - letters, email and SMS messages - to ensure patients receive timely and accurate information.
"The product is already used by clinics throughout Australia, Asia, UK and the Caribbean and will be showcased at the British Association for Sexual Health & HIV trade show in May this year."
Chief Executive Officer Bridget Dickson said the trade show was one of a few of its kind in Europe.
"It's a specialised industry that we are dealing with and this event is specifically for our niche area," she said.
"One of the main goals of attending is to make our name well-known and increase our international presence by networking, building relationships and creating new leads."
"It is also about building confidence in the brand, which has been operating as CaraData for 18 months."
Ms Dickson said during this time the company had established a pilot-sized clinic in Waterford, Ireland.
"Generating interest in the UK might help to bring the pilot to a full-size clinic or if sales increase we may explore the possibility of opening an office in Dublin or London in the future," she said.
Mr Cummins said the program had so far helped Queensland businesses generate immediate export sales of more than $5.3 million.
"These companies have also projected $297 million in future exports and 400 new jobs," he said.
Biotech or ICT businesses that have identified export markets, or have a product or service that has export potential and is export ready, are invited to apply for future rounds of the International Trade Show Assistance Program.
Application forms are available on the State Government Information Industries Bureau website at www.iib.qld.gov.au/itsap.
