Four not-for-profit groups in Southport will share in more than $105,000 in grants this Easter from the latest round of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
Treasurer Andrew Fraser and Southport MP Peter Lawlor announced the successful recipients of the Fund's 56th round of grants, which include a parents and friends association, a housing company and a P&C association in Southport.
"This Easter round of grants will provide a boost to hundreds of not-for-profit groups across Queensland, as well as their local communities," Mr Fraser said.
"The Fund distributes one-off grants of up to $30,000 to strengthen the capacity of not-for-profit groups to provide services, facilities and opportunities to Queenslanders."
Grant recipients in this round are:
A B Paterson College Parents & Friends Association $22,471
Gold Coast Housing Company Ltd $22,914
Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast Inc $30,000
Southport State High School Parents & Citizens Association $30,000
Mr Lawlor said the latest round of funding has many non-for-profit groups celebrating a very happy Easter.
"The grants benefit a variety of local organisations who commit substantial time and effort to enhance quality of life in the community," Mr Lawlor said.
"I am very pleased that the grant recipients in my electorate will be able to access the funds straight away to purchase their items or carry out their projects."
Following this 56th round of grant allocations, the Fund has provided approximately $368.7 million to more than 32,000 community projects since its inception in 1994.
Levies generated from Golden Casket lotteries, wagering, keno, and gaming machines are redistributed through the Fund, ensuring that the whole State on balance derives tangible benefits from gambling revenue.
The majority of incorporated not-for-profit groups in Queensland are eligible to apply and applications from both large and small organisations are encouraged.
