• Good morning, Education and Training Minister, Rod Welford, apologises for not being able to be with you today, and has asked me to pass on his best wishes.

• I'm very pleased to be here to celebrate the official opening of your new Prep school facilities.

• This is another important milestone in your school's development.

• The building is also a tribute to all the hard work undertaken by the school and its community to bring this project to fruition.

• I understand the school provided funding of $600,000 to build this new complex which houses the Prep School facilities.

• I'm delighted our Government has been able to support the school and the Prep school project.

• Since 2004, we have been able to provide assistance for the Prep school project and associated works of almost $225,000.

• In addition, in the past three years, our Government has been pleased to support the Guardian Angels' Catholic Primary School with recurrent funding of almost $2.36m.

• And I would like to congratulate the school community and your strong Parents and Friends Association for its commitment to the school.

• There are many activities taking place at the school this year.

• The fact that Year 7 students will host their third Kid's Congress is very impressive. Good Luck to all of you and I look forward to hearing more about this in the future.

• I am also impressed that the already 120-strong school band, which performs locally and in Brisbane, will be further expanded this year.

• And most of all, I am impressed with this school's heart and commitment to the community as exemplified by your support of the De Paul Villa aged care facility where you visit residents twice a week.

• Your visits would bring a great deal of joy and comfort to what can be a lonely time in many people's lives.

• It is great to see also the support you gave the Good Counsel School, Innisfail, in the wake of Cyclone Larry by providing a holiday for 120 children and teachers on the Gold Coast.

• I am sure it is a holiday they will never forget.

• I would like to thank the Principal, Terry Gimpel, for his invitation to your opening celebrations today on behalf of Minister Rod Welford and myself.

• And I look forward hearing about the achievements of Guardian Angels' Primary School students in the future.
