Member for Southport Peter Lawlor raised the Queensland flag today for Tennis Gold Coast, highlighting the remarkable achievement of both the staff and players at the Queens Park venue in Southport.

Gold Coast tennis took the scoop in the recent Tennis Queensland awards dinner, with Helen Melia named Administrator of the Year whilst Junior of the Year went to the determined Bernard Tomic, 13.
"These awards emphasise the strong commitment and passion these people show for Gold Coast Tennis and recognise their contribution to tennis within the Gold Coast community" Mr Lawlor said.
The award was long overdue for Gold Coast office secretary Helen Melia who has been with the association for 24 years.
Mrs Melia said "it was great to get such recognition after so many years working for Tennis Gold Coast."
"I was delighted to raise the Queensland flag for Tennis Gold Coast who can be proud of their achievements and can fly our Queensland flag with pride" Mr Lawlor said.
"To see this kind of establishment prospering in Southport, despite the substantial development taking place around it, is testimony to the hard work and dedication of its members".
Tennis Gold Coast offers effective development programs for people of all ages. The junior teams at Tennis GC have always been very strong, taking out many competitions.
"I encourage both parents and children of all ages to get actively involved in tennis.
