Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today welcomed an ENERGEX announcement that will see almost a million dollars invested in the reinforcement of the electricity cable network in Southport.
$975,000 has been allocated toward the installation of three new underground electricity cables throughout Southport.
Mr Lawlor said work on the three electricity cables is expected to begin at the end of July with a view to a late-November completion date.
"These works will strengthen ENERGEX's electricity network throughout the Southport electorate," he said.
"The works will ensure ENERGEX continues to provide a dependable electricity supply, plus increased capacity to cater for future growth in the region."
The ENERGEX works will be undertaken along the following streets:
- The Broadwater Marine Parade end of Queen Street.
- The Queen Street end of Scarborough Street until Short Street.
- From the corner of Queen and High Street, along High Street turning into Nind Street and finishing at Chapel Street.
