A B Paterson College is one of 74 non-state schools across Queensland to share in $1.8 million provided by the Beattie Government to improve and expand school facilities.
The college will receive $30,000 from the Tomorrow's Schools Small Scale Project scheme, which funds small capital projects to improve a school's learning environment, such as library and science upgrades.
Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor, said the funding would allow the school to upgrade computer software and technology.
"The State Government is committed to ensuring Queensland students have access to all possible facilities in our education system," Mr Lawlor said.
"School communities are looking for ways to improve school environments and for students to enjoy learning, and our Government is pleased to be able to support that."
Minister for Education and Training, Rod Welford, said the Small Scale Project Scheme was part of the $1 billion five-year Tomorrow's Schools program which would upgrade and modernise school facilities.
"Of that amount, $100 million over five years is being allocated to non-state schools and funding under this program can be used for small scale projects identified by local school communities," Mr Welford said.
"The 2006-07 Budget provides Queensland's non-state schools with $368.7 million in recurrent funding and $46.8 million in capital assistance.
"The Beattie Government recognises the important role all schools play in their local communities and is pleased to help A B Paterson College and its staff provide a high standard of education."
