Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today announced the Department of Public Works would contribute more than $86,000 towards upgrade works at government buildings on the Gold Coast. Mr Lawlor said he was very pleased Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten was able to secure the additional funding to support government services in the area.
He announced $53,692 to repaint levels five and seven of the Surfers Paradise Police Station and $32,662 to replace playground equipment at The Kumbari Avenue School. Mr Lawlor said all the work would be managed by the State Government's construction and maintenance organisation, QBuild.
"The Beattie Government has continued to invest in upgrades and improvements to police stations and schools," he said.
"We have a firm commitment to ensuring proper maintenance of our schools, which builds community confidence in State education.
"Contingency maintenance funds are offered on top of regular maintenance spending to address issues identified as priorities by communities."
Mr Lawlor said the upgrade works would be completed as soon as possible. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 10:31 AM
