Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today announced the State Government would construct two dwellings on the Gold Coast to boost affordable housing for seniors.
Mr Lawlor said the Department of Housing would construct the dwellings which would be managed by Gold Coast Vision Housing through the Beattie Government's Long Term Community Housing Program.
"In 2005-06, more than $22 million has been allocated for Long Term Community Housing to assist communities to meet housing need throughout the state," he said.
"This is a great outcome for Gold Coast Vision Housing.
"It's one of the many ways that the Beattie Government is working in partnership with the wider community to help Queenslanders with low incomes keep a roof over their heads.
"Since the Beattie Government was elected more than $178 million has been allocated for new housing construction and housing assistance on the Gold Coast.
"This has helped address the growing need for affordable housing in the region."
Mr Lawlor said construction was expected to commence as soon as possible. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 3:11 PM
