The Gold Coast SES unit is sharing in over $300,000 in new grants for State Emergency Services (SES) Groups across Queensland.

Member for Southport Peter Lawlor said the Gold Coast SES will receive $11,000 to assist in funding a new four-wheel drive vehicle to support the group's delivery of welfare services.

"This is a big win for the Gold Coast Group and the local community," Mr Lawlor said.

"These funds will allow the Gold Coast unit to acquire further resources which will improve their response capabilities.

"I congratulate Gold Coast unit on their successful application and wish them a safe and successful year."

Mr Lawlor said SES volunteers regularly go above and beyond the call of duty.

"SES Groups help enhance community safety and resilience.

"We know that when they are called upon, they provide a skilled and dedicated response which the community can rely on."

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts said the grants are part of the SES Non-Recurrent Subsidy Program.

"These grants assist with the provision of accommodation, motor vehicle and motor vehicle accessories, and office equipment.

"There are 16 recommended approvals totalling $301,612.

"The State Government is also committed to providing new equipment and training for SES and Rural Fire volunteers under a $25 million, five year funding commitment announced in 2006."
