MR LAWLOR asked the Minister for Police and Corrective Services (Ms SPENCE)- With reference to funds that were announced in this year's Budget for a new Police Beat in the Arundel area- How is the search for a property for this new beat progressing?
ANSWER- This Government is committed to establishing 25 new Neighbourhood Police Beats throughout the State as part of an election commitment.
This new police beat in Arundel represents a $387,000 investment by the Beattie Government to strengthen community-policing relationships in the area and improve community safety.
I am pleased to advise that settlement occurred on the purchase of a property at 295 Napper Road on September 9. The property is ideally located to provide a highly visible and accessible police presence to the community.
Planning has now commended to convert the two storey, four bedroom house, into a Neighbourhood Police Beat.
It is expected that the Beat will become operational by June next year. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 12:00 AM
