Mr LAWLOR asked the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing (MR SCHWARTEN) -
QUESTION:
(1) How many seniors units are there in the Gold Coast and how many more seniors units will be constructed in the near future?
ANSWER:
(1) As at 30 April 2006, there were 1,052 seniors unit dwellings in the Local Government Authority (LGA) of the Gold Coast. Although there are no seniors units currently planned, the department has purchased the following properties in the Gold Coast LGA:
• two dwellings through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing program • 32 dwellings through Community Housing programs • three vacant land sites for future development through Community Housing programs • 13 dwellings through the Public Housing program
The department has also commenced the construction of a 25-bed boarding house through the Community Housing program and plans to commence 20 medium-density dwellings though the Public Housing program.
In 2006-07, in the Gold Coast LGA, the department plans to commence construction of 16 units of accommodation in medium-density dwellings through the Public Housing program. Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 9:46 AM
