Member for Southport Peter Lawlor today announced the recipients of the 50th Gambling Community Benefit Fund allocations to 12 Southport community organisations including the Gold Coast Centre Against Sexual Violence.

Mr Lawlor presented the cheque for $18,750 to the grateful recipients for the purchase of a new computer and digital colour photocopier.

"The grants provided by the Gambling Community Benefit Fund are one significant way the State Government assists in this work, by returning gambling revenue to hardworking Queensland communities," Mr Lawlor said.

"These community groups need to be recognised and encouraged for their important role in supporting and nurturing Queenslanders across the State.

"Community projects, building upgrades, and cultural events are just some of the practical outcomes that benefit communities, thanks to the grants awarded during the last 13 years.

"Since the Fund began, over $307 million has been distributed to more than 28,500 community projects - that's a wonderful investment in not-for-profit organisations statewide.
