Two Southport organisations will share in almost $30,000 funding to improve the IT skills of their members.
The Gold Coast Family Support Group will receive funding for the training of people with disabilities and their carers and the Women for Re-Entry to Work Association will now be able to better up-skill women who wish to re-join the workforce.
State Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor, has welcomed the announcement.
"This is a great funding program which will enable people to learn computer skills that will be useful in everyday life," Mr Lawlor said.
Statewide the program offers $250,000 to community and other not-for-profit organisations to run computer training programs for people disadvantaged in their access to information and communication technologies (ICT).
" We don't want to see Queenslanders fall behind in computer skills because they are disadvantaged by factors such as income level, location, age, gender or disability," Mr Lawlor said.
"The Technology Survival Skills program doesn't just benefit individual participants, it also offers benefits to the not-for-profit organisations running the training programs with trainees developing community websites, online databases and newsletters," he said.
