The re-elected Southport MP Peter Lawlor said he was very excited be back as the State Member for Southport.
"After many years of hard work, it's nice to know that I have a lot of support in the Southport community" Mr Lawlor said.
"I will continue working hard with local community groups and my constituents to assist them in any way I can" he said.
Mr Lawlor expressed his thanks to the many volunteers and supporters that helped out on polling day and throughout the campaign.
"I would also like to thank the community groups and constituents that supported me on election day, knowing they recognise my hard work and dedication to Southport, makes campaigning that much easier " he said.
Mr Lawlor, his staff, friends, volunteers and family celebrated Saturday's victory at Cav's Steakhouse. They were also joined by the fellow Gold Coast Labor Members, Dianne Reilly, Margaret Keech, Christine Smith, Peta-Kaye Croft and the new member for Gaven, Phil Gray.
