Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today presented two computers to the Macleod Women's Refuge on the Gold Coast.
 Mr Lawlor said QBuild - the State Government's construction and maintenance arm - donated the computers which were surplus to their needs.
"The donation of the computers supports an ongoing partnership between the Women's Refuge and QBuild's South Coast Regional Office under Australia's CEO Challenge," he said.
"The CEO Challenge is an innovative program which encourages partnerships between the business sector and the community to counter domestic violence."
QBuild is the first State Government agency to participate in the Challenge and, over the past few months, staff have been raising funds for the Refuge in an effort to increase awareness of domestic violence in the local community.
Mr Lawlor said the donation of computers would help staff manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the Centre.
"As well as providing the computers, QBuild also secured a donation of software from Microsoft to enable the Refuge to use the computers immediately," he said.
"I would encourage other organisations to engage in partnerships like this, where there is a real chance to support and assist local causes like the Macleod Women's Refuge on the Gold Coast." Last changed: [PUBLISHED_DATE] at 12:00 AM
