According to the latest Sensis Business Index, confidence in Queensland's small and medium sized business enterprises is well above the national average.
Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today said small business represents 96.5 percent of all private sector businesses in Queensland and accounts for more than 50 percent of all private sector employment.
"The Beattie Government, through the Department of State Development, Trade and Innovation, has developed Australia's most comprehensive and progressive website for small businesses," Mr Lawlor said.
"The Smart Small Business website (www.smartsmallbusiness.qld.gov.au) provides information and direct access to a range of products and services that help small businesses to start up, expand and start exporting.
"Small businesses can also get assistance through any of the 19 State Development Centres throughout Queensland, including one right here in Southport."
