Question on Notice No. 382 Asked on 9 March 2006
ANSWER: I thank the member for his question and congratulate him for the ongoing support for emergency services within his electorate. On 6 March 2006 the Student Paramedic Group 59 commenced at the Queensland Combined Emergency Services, School of Ambulance and Paramedic Studies, Lutwyche. This Group consists of 21 students. The recruits will spend six weeks completing some of the world's most advanced emergency clinical training. They will learn skills in defibrillation, injury and extensive trauma treatment, and medication administration. The training these student paramedics receive is second to none and will equip them with the skills and knowledge to treat patients quickly and efficiently, regardless of the situation. At the completion of the six week course, each student will be supervised by a senior paramedic for a further three years. Group 59 is scheduled to complete initial training on 14 April 2006.
