Operators of neighbourhood and community centres are reminded that submissions for a share of $710,000 in funding to improve their services close on 25 February.
Member for Southport Peter Lawlor said the Supporting Neighbourhood and Community Centres funding package was part of the Best Start - Supporting Families in the Early Years initiative.
"Neighbourhood and community centres are centrally located and universally accessible, making them an important asset for any community," Mr Lawlor said.
"These centres play an increasingly important role in the delivery of quality services and support to children, families and their communities, including child care and counselling services and public performance and youth spaces." "This funding is aimed at meeting the varied needs of neighbourhood and community centres to enhance their ability to provide prevention and early intervention services."
Mr Lawlor said prevention and early intervention services were important to the community because they aim to help people before problems become entrenched.
"These services are an investment in the health and wellbeing of the community and can include family support, parenting programs, group counselling or supported playgroups."
One-off grants of up to $10,000 are available in this final round of the funding package.
Communities Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said the funding was an example of the Queensland Government's commitment to build strong, supportive and inclusive communities, particularly in rural and regional areas. "Community and neighbourhood centres will be able to undertake a wide range of projects including the installation of playgrounds and fencing, improvements to client comfort and access to enhance service provision," Ms Nelson-Carr said.
Funding closes at 5pm on Monday 25 February.
