Gold Coast businesses will have a local opportunity to tap in to the State's most relevant and up-to-date export market intelligence during Export Week from 13 to 17 October 2008.

MP for Southport, Peter Lawlor said that an event planned for the Gold Coast on 15 October forms part of a series of high-level visits by Queensland's overseas trade representatives to regional centres as part of the Commissioners' Events Across Queensland Export Week program.

"The Commissioners' Events Across Queensland program includes a visit to the Gold Coast by Mr Matthew Kang, Trade Commissioner Korea and Ms Susan Rae, Trade Commissioner United Arab Emirates," Mr Lawor said.

"Mr Kang and Ms Rae will present a seminar that will highlight export opportunities for Queensland businesses in both the Middle East and Korea including in the construction and infrastructure, food and the marine sectors.

"Queensland's other overseas trade representatives will also be sharing valuable, first hand export experiences and information at events in 9 other regional centres.

"This will assist by providing regional businesses with a relevant update on key export markets and information on how the Government's export agency Trade Queensland can assist the State's exporters.

"This is a prime opportunity for local export-ready businesses to meet face to face with Mr Kang and Ms Rae and ask all the hard questions about opportunities to service market sectors in the Middle East and Korea," Mr Lawlor said.

The Gold Coast event is to take place on 15 October from 10:00 to 11:45am. The venue is the Arundel Hills Country Club, Arundel Place, Arundel.

Local business people wishing to attend can book by telephoning 5583 7599 or email kelvin.bradford@dtrdi.qld.gov.au. RSVPs are due by 10 October.
