Ambulance capabilities on the Gold Coast have been boosted with the arrival of two new Patient Transport Vehicles.

Emergency Services Minister Neil Roberts and Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor, conducted the official handover of the vehicles today at the Southport station.

"Patient transport vehicles provide Queenslanders with the capacity to access non-urgent transport for medical reasons," Mr Lawlor said.

"These vehicles are worth over $125,000 each, and will be used out of the Gold Coast Hospital and the Coolangatta Ambulance Station. They will greatly benefit the Gold Coast."

Mr Roberts and Mr Lawlor also presented Ciranoush Aird and David Singleton with the Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance).

"Congratulations to these officers on their achievements. Their skill and dedication is a credit to themselves and to the Queensland Ambulance Service," Mr Lawlor said.

Mr Roberts also joined Member for Broadwater, Peta-Kaye Croft, at Runaway Bay Ambulance station to present Officer Mark Ward with his Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance), and long service awards to Ted Hayton and Paul Nielsen.

"Well-done to Mark on completing his Diploma," Ms Croft said.

"Ted's experience speaks for itself. A 30 year Long Service and the First Clasp to the National Medal is an impressive achievement.

"Paul received the 20 year Medal today. Both officers are wonderful examples of the excellent standards maintained by the Queensland Ambulance Service."

Mr Roberts said ambulance officers on the Gold Coast provided an excellent service to local residents.

"The Queensland Ambulance Service has a culture of commitment and professionalism," Mr Roberts said.

"The Gold Coast is no exception. I congratulate the officers on their efforts and wish them well in the future."
