Questions On Notice Questions on notice are usually asked when a more detailed answer is required and are in writing, and are forwarded by the Clerk of the Parliament to the relevant Minister who prepares a written answer which is presented to Parliament.
Mr Lawlor asked the Minister for Natrual Resources and Water and Minister assisting the Premier in North Queensland (Mr Wallace)-
Question:
Will the Minister (a) advise on the success of the WaterWise Rebate Scheme which enables residents to implement water saving initiatives around their homes and (b) provide information on the take up rate in the Gold Coast City Council area?
ANSWER:
(a) The State Government's Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme has been an outstanding success. The people of Queensland have responded in unprecedented numbers. As of 14 March 2008, the Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme has received approximately 432 346 applications for 489 160 products. The Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme has contributed to the change in people's behaviours and this success can be gauged in the way the people of Queensland have reduced their use of our precious water resources.
(b) I am pleased to report that the people of the Gold Coast have also responded very positively to the Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme. Since the scheme commenced in July of 2006, the people of the Gold Coast have been the second biggest local Government group in terms of uptake of the scheme. The Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme has processed a range of applications for water saving products including $31.22 million to Gold Coast residents for a range of products, including: 26 863 rainwater tanks pplications,17 968 four star water-rated washing machines applications, and 3 118 dual flush toilet suites applications.
