Southport MP Peter Lawlor today urged all homeowners to take advantage of the new State Government water saving rebate initiative and collect a Home WaterWise Rebate pack from his office in Chirn Park.
"There are many effective ways of saving water outlined in this initiative and with the deepening drought, it is essential for as many people as possible to take advantage of this scheme" Mr Lawlor said.
"The Home WaterWise Rebate kit includes a variety of information on water saving techniques, an application form for the rebate scheme and the guidelines for rainwater tanks, swimming pool covers, shower heads, washing machines and tap flow regulators which are eligible for a rebate.
Another strategy that has recently been implemented is the Home WaterWise Service which will allow interested residents to pay just $20 for $150 worth of plumbing services.
"The Home WaterWise Service is already in use on the Gold Coast and provides a licensed plumber to visit your home and install a range of water efficient devices and offer advice on water saving strategies" Mr Lawlor said.
"The depth of the drought and the population density of South East Queensland make it imperative that we offer householders in the region the option to save and capture their own rainwater where possible.
"Homeowners and residents can obtain this WaterWise Rebate pack from my office located at 24 Musgrave Avenue, Chirn Park, or by calling my office on (07) 5532 5068".
