Member for Southport Peter Lawlor is inviting Gold Coast small business owners and operators to attend a Managing for Profits workshop from 9.30 am - 12.30 pm on Thursday 7th September in the training room of the Gold Coast State Development Centre at the Connaught Centre, 26 Marine Parade, Southport.
Mr Lawlor said the workshop costs $22 and is designed for business people and people looking to start a business that have a basic knowledge of financial statements.
"It will help them take financial control of their business and includes information on calculating financial ratios to monitor business performance and influence business success," Mr Lawlor said.
"In this workshop participants will be given a series of practical exercises to provide them with knowledge of relevant financial terms and the ability to evaluate the financial performance of a small business.
"A case study will be used so that attendees take a real life business and make decisions about it. Participants will be able to return to work and apply the same principles to their own circumstances."
For more information, or to book, telephone 5583 7599 or visit www.sd.qld.gov.au/goldcoast.
Mr Lawlor encouraged local small business owners to contact the Gold Coast State Development Centre to find out more about the range of other planning and support services and products on offer.
"The Beattie Government has invested significant funding in the local region to support small business growth and job creation," Mr Lawlor said.
"We offer a range of funding programs, as well as workshops and business coaching because we know that small business is driving regional economies."
