MR STEVENS ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —
QUESTION:
With reference to the Reef to Outback – An Undiscovered Journey promotion—
How much funding did Tourism Queensland inject for the promotion and what is the expected financial return for the tourism operators in the region?
ANSWER:
In 2009/10, Tourism Queensland has spent $82,000 in promoting the Reef to Outback campaign in the primary target markets of Germany, United Kingdom and New Zealand.
This activity has resulted in increased publicity and awareness of the experiences offered in these regions to both consumers and travel trade. They have also led to increased collaboration among the operators who have joined the efforts of each region’s regional tourism organisation and Tourism Queensland to promote the regions internationally.
