On 25 April 2009, RSL or Services Clubs will be entitled to commence trading from 5am without applying for a permit.
All other licensees who wish to cater for ANZAC Day services from 5am on 25 April, must apply for a permit and must be catering for an official service on behalf of an RSL or Services Club.
All other licensees must not trade before 1pm on ANZAC Day.
If a licensee is supplying liquor in conjunction with a meal in an area normally set aside for dining (such as a hotel or motel), liquor can be supplied from 10am.
This year all licensed premises are only permitted to trade until 12 midnight on the Friday before ANZAC Day, even if they normally stay open longer. While service from the bar must finish at midnight, patrons will have until 12.30am to finish drinks and leave the premises.
In previous years, nightclubs have been allowed to trade until 3am on ANZAC Day. However, under changes to the Liquor Act this is no longer permitted.
Gaming machines are not permitted to operate prior to 1pm on ANZAC Day.
Further information can be obtained by contacting the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing on 131304. Last changed: Oct 06 2009 at 2:11 PM
