MR EMERSON ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —

QUESTION:

With reference to go cards and the government’s general growing tendency towards ‘smart’ stored-value cards and facilities—

Will the Minister advise whether the government will subscribe to the ASIC EFT Code of Conduct to give consumers certainty in their rights when utilising this technology?

ANSWER:

No areas under my portfolio administer schemes which utilise stored valued cards.

Accordingly your question would be more appropriately directed to Ministers who have the administration of stored value cards as part of their portfolio
