The Ministerial Diary
After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I was invited by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia to officially open its 24th National Rally in Rockhampton and what an incredible sight! More than 900 campervans and motorhomes and around 2000 people descended on Rockhampton for one of the country’s biggest RV rallies firmly placing the Capricorn region on the drive tourism map. The Bligh Government acknowledges how important the drive tourism market is to the Queensland tourism economy and we are doing all we can to make them want to come back and visit again soon. While in Rockhampton, I also revealed the Central Queensland Tourism Opportunity Plan which identifies new tourism products and investment opportunities across the region and the infrastructure needed to support them.
