The Ministerial Diary

After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I encourage everyone to follow my travels as the Minister by reading below my entries into the Minister's Diary where I will write about my latest experiences. Peter Lawlor.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet so many people at the recent one-day Community Cabinet in the Redlands. One such local was Col Battersby, owner of Fishes at the Point at North Stradbroke Island. Col recently participated in Tourism Queensland's Sustainable Regions pilot program and was pretty successful in reducing his businesses' carbon footprint. Col is now the first operator to be featured in Tourism Queensland and Channel Nine's new 'Living Green in Queensland' initiative which showcases the outstanding work done by Queensland tourism operators to become more environmentally sustainable. Other businesses to be showcased in the upcoming segments are Airlie Beach's Abel Point Marina and Cruise Whitsundays, Forest Flying in Mackay, Bungalow Bay Koala Village on Magnetic Island and 1770 LARC! Tours in 1770/Agnes Water. Congratulations to all who participated!
