A series of events have been planned to make it easier for families to connect with nature this summer. Member for Southport Peter Lawlor said the Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) had lots of activities happening for families across parks all over the south-east. The Connect with Nature program was an easy, fun way for everyone to discover our beautiful parks and wildlife, Mr Lawlor said.
“Connect with the land at Pine Ridge Conservation Park as Indigenous ranger Clinton takes you on exploration of the park’s past, present and future links with the Traditional Owner groups of the Gold Coast,” Mr Lawlor said.
“Reconnect with Brisbane’s past as the big guns roar at Fort Lytton National Park, when the 64 pounder cannons are fired.” “Our family spotlight walks are a great way to escape the summer heat as you search for creatures of the night at Daisy Hill, Noosa, the Glass House Mountains and Bunyaville.”
“If you’re looking for school holiday activities to entertain the kids, the Connect with Nature kids activities are healthy, educational — and fun! Kids will be inspired by our Ranger for a Day, Water wizards and koala activities.”
“These and a host of other fun school holiday activities for kids and families are being held in locations around Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast.” For information about Connect with Nature events and activities call 1300 130 372 or visit the DERM website at www.derm.qld.gov.au.Last changed: Jan 15 2010 at 10:12 AM
