MR STEVENS ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —
QUESTION:
With reference to the decision to reduce funding for the Townsville Amateurs August Cup Meeting and threats to cut funding to the McKinlay Racing Club—
Will the Minister list the other country race clubs that will be affected by the government’s racing organisational body Queensland Racing in 2010-11?
ANSWER:
Under the Racing Act 2002 and the Australian Rules of Racing, the control body for thoroughbred racing in this State has the responsibility of managing its code of racing, including the allocation of funds and race meetings. Consequently questions in relation to the allocation of race meetings or industry funds should be directed to Queensland Racing.
