 Queensland general election - March 21, 2009

Premier Anna Bligh MP has called a general election to be held on 21 March 2009.

I am your candidate for Southport. I have worked hard to represent the people of Southport on the issues that are important, such as protecting the Broadwater, improving our health care system and maintaining high standards in police and emergency services. If elected, I will continue to campaign on your behalf.

I am passionate about Southport, having lived in the electorate for more than 50 years, and passionate about securing it's future.

Please get out and vote on Saturday March 21. Voting is compulsory.

Crestwood Heights pedestrian upgrade

Posted by editor (editor) on Mar 13 2009
Election 2009 >>

Many residents from Crestwood Heights have contacted me over the past 12 months with issues relating to the safety of pedestrians and cyclists along Olsen Ave between Crestwood Drive and Parklands Drive.

As a result of my representations to the Main Roads Department the following works are proposed:-

-   Removal of overhanging vegetation from the Geoff Walter Drive Reserve on the Southwest corner of the Smith Street interchange, the northwest corner of the Smith Street interchange and the western side of Olsen Avenue to significantly improve pedestrian sight distance.

-  Provision of a sealed pedestrian/cycle path along the western side of Olsen Avenue under the Smith Street  interchange.

-  Providing signalised pedestrian controls across the right turn movement from Olsen Avenue southbound to Smith Street westbound and Smith Street Eastbound to Olsen Avenue southbound.

-  Address the trip hazard associated with the existing stormwater drainage pits within the traffic islands of the Smith Street interchange.

-  Provision of pram ramps on all kerbs.

-  Provision of a sealed pedestrian/cycle path along the western side of Olsen Avenue between the Smith Street interchange and Parklands Drive

-  Provision of appropriate lighting along the entire route.

Main Roads anticipate that the above works will be completed by the end of June this year.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance regarding this or any other matter.
