Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten today urged Gold Coast building contractors to make the most of a FREE ‘Building Better Businesses’ show next week, to gain a competitive edge during these tough times.
Mr Schwarten said the Building Services Authority and Construction Skills Queensland had teamed up with the Department of Public Works to provide essential information for tradies about how to survive the building game.
“We are facing tough times at the moment, but many contractors in the building industry have only ever known good financial times,” Mr Schwarten said.
“These free ‘Building Better Businesses’ shows are aimed at helping contractors survive the building game during more challenging times.
“As the construction market becomes more competitive, contractors with a wider understanding of the industry will have a definite edge over their competitors.”
Member for Southport Peter Lawlor encouraged local builders to take advantage of the opportunity to boost their business.
“These shows cover everything from business survival tips, sustainable housing, tiling, to timber framing best practice methods,” Mr Lawlor said.
“There will also be important advice about how to get involved in the Federal Government’s Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan and making the most of your superannuation.
“I encourage all contractors in the Gold Coast region to take advantage of this free show to improve their knowledge and get an edge over competitors.”
