Celebrating Christmas Queensland style is the theme of Tourism Queensland’s new ‘Hey Hey it’s a Queensland Christmas’ online tourism campaign and competition, Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor announced today.
Mr Lawlor said the campaign, which began this month, would run for five weeks and aimed to increase visitation to the Queenslandholidays.com.au website, exposing consumers to a range of fantastic Queensland holiday deals in the lead up to the festive season.
“The ‘Hey Hey it’s a Queensland Christmas’ message will reach more than 370,000 consumers as part of Tourism Queensland’s annual e-newsletter subscriber campaign,” Mr Lawlor said.
“The chance to win a fantastic Queensland holiday will also appear on a variety of prominent domestic news sites such as The Age, Sydney Morning Herald and Brisbane Times with the aim of encouraging more people to join our growing community of Queensland travel enthusiasts.”
“We want to get people thinking about celebrating Christmas Queensland style this year and will reward a number of lucky QueenslandHolidays.com.au subscribers with a fabulous holiday.”
Mr Lawlor said the Christmas-themed promotion would help Tourism Queensland increase the visibility of a range of Queensland tourism products over the festive season.
“There will also be an incentive for competition entrants to share the competition details with their friends for the chance to win an additional holiday in Queensland,” he said.
“Once consumers have entered the competition, a link to the ‘Best Holiday in the World’ homepage will be provided directing consumers to the Best Holiday deals in Queensland.”
Mr Lawlor said the digital Christmas campaign was the next component of the over-arching Hey Hey this is Queensland TV, print, radio and online campaign, which was launched in August and features four of the Best Job in the World candidates, set to the theme song of ‘60s brand The Monkees.
“Since the launch of the original ‘Hey Hey this is Queensland’ campaign more than 173,000 Best Holiday campaign website pages have been viewed,” he said.
