MR STEVENS ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —
QUESTION:
With reference to the three risk assessments of the insulation program on 31 July, 17 September and 1 October, that concluded that unsafe or incorrectly installed ceiling batts could lead to fire damage, injury or death—
Did the Minister’s office know about and/or receive any details of these assessments and warnings prior to the first death of an installer on 14 October 2009?
ANSWER:
I am aware of recent media reports that risk assessments were prepared by a Project Control Group comprising various Commonwealth Government officials to oversee the Commonwealth Government’s Home Insulation Program.
Neither myself, my office, or the Office of Fair Trading, have been provided with copies of these risk assessments.
