Great advice on how to protect young children from product-related injuries will be available to parents at the Pregnancy, Babies and Children's Expo (PBC Expo) in Brisbane this weekend, Minister for Fair Trading Peter Lawlor said today.

“The Bligh Government is committed to working with parents to prevent these unfortunate product-related injuries,” Mr Lawlor said.

"These days there is a huge array of merchandise for babies available to parents but they need to understand the risks associated with certain nursery products and clothing in order to make wise purchasing decisions.

“This weekend’s PBC Expo provides a great opportunity for parents to collect a free copy of the Keeping Baby Safe DVD and have the chance to win a Safe-and-Sound child restraint.

“Visitors can also speak directly with product safety staff for detailed safety advice about a range of children’s products, toys and nursery furniture.”

The PBC Expo regularly attracts more than 25,000 visitors and features product information, information sessions and free children’s entertainment.

It will run from Friday, 19 June to Sunday, 21 June at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre with free adult tickets available at www.pbcexpo.com.au.
