The Ministerial Diary

After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I encourage everyone to follow my travels as the Minister by reading below my entries into the Minister's Diary where I will write about my latest experiences. Peter Lawlor.

The sky's the limit for Singapore Flying College's new aircraft and flight simulators.
Singapore Airlines' latest investment in Queensland is very exciting and I had the pleasure of welcoming the new training aircraft and flight simulators at Sunshine Coast Airport this week. Singapore Airlines has invested more than $40 million in five Cessna Mustang C510 aircraft and the two new flight simulators at its training college.
What an amazing vote of confidence in our aviation and aerospace industry and I congratulate Singapore Airlines on this very significant addition to its training capacity. The aviation industry in Queensland has grown to more than 900 companies based in the state and has created more than 16,500 jobs. Queensland is the centre of the Australian aerospace, helicopter and aviation training services industries and this is largely due to the Bligh Government making it a high priority, which we support at every level.
