MR STEVENS ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —
QUESTION:
Will the Minister advise which part of New South Wales is being promoted in the United States of America by Tourism Queensland using Queensland taxpayer dollars?
ANSWER:
Tourism Queensland identified that New South Wales and Queensland combined attract eight out of every ten international visitors to Australia, and account for 58 percent of visitor nights, collectively dominating the international tourism market to Australia.
In October 2009 Tourism Queensland and Tourism New South Wales entered into a three year $8 million partnership and have worked collaboratively on marketing projects in Japan, China, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Scandinavia and Ireland.
Joint promotions between TQ and TNSW involve the promotion of Sydney, Cairns, Hamilton Island and the Great Barrier Reef.
