MR SORENSEN ASKED THE MINISTER FOR TOURISM AND FAIR TRADING (MR LAWLOR) —

QUESTION:

With reference to the obligations of publicans/licensees under the Liquor Act 1994—

What is the distance, in metres, from the front door of licensed premises, where the licensee is responsible for preserving the peace and good order of their patrons?

ANSWER:

Licensees are obliged under the Liquor Act 1992 to ensure the use of their licensed premises, or the behaviour of persons entering or leaving the premises, does not cause undue annoyance or disturbance in the neighbourhood of the premises. A specific distance is not prescribed.
