Holidaymakers have the chance to snap up a Queensland holiday bargain in the lead up to Christmas with the launch of Tourism Queensland’s Ultimate Auctions on the Queensland Holidays website, Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said.
Mr Lawlor said a range of Queensland holiday experiences, packages and accommodation would go under the hammer at 2pm Queensland time today, Monday 7 December, as part of Tourism Queensland’s popular, online Ultimate Auctions.
“Bidding starts at $1 for all the deals which will be auctioned through the user friendly eBay-style platform on QueenslandHolidays.com.au,” Mr Lawlor said.
“Previous auctions held earlier in the year stirred up a bidding frenzy with more than 60,000 people visiting the website during the auction period.
“There are some great holiday deals up for grabs this time round including five-nights’ accommodation at Club Med on Lindeman Island, a Great Barrier Reef adventure, behind the scenes tour of Underwater World, helicopter picnic and Coral Sea Ecojet Safari at Water’s Edge Resort, QDeck food experience and two-nights at the deluxe Thala Beach Lodge.
“Tourism Queensland’s also added some additional money-can’t-buy experiences to the format for this round of Ultimate Auctions, including two, three and four day itineraries in a variety of destinations across the state.
“The itineraries are the result of regional operators grouping together to create the ‘ultimate’ experience such as a two-day ‘Italian food and wine indulgence’ package in the south east, a three-day ‘reef to rainforest’ option in Mackay, a Mission Beach adventure in Tropical North Queensland and a four-day ‘fun and sun’ package on the Gold Coast.”
Tourism Queensland acting-CEO Steve McRoberts said Tourism Queensland was looking forward to spreading some Christmas cheer through Ultimate Auctions in the lead up to the festive season.
“We’ve entered an unprecedented technological phase of digital marketing. Ultimate Auctions is yet another platform to promote Queensland’s tourism products and destinations and is a great example of how we’re extending our reach,” Mr McRoberts said.
“Ultimate Auctions presents a highly-accessible alternative for Queensland tourism operators to sell their products.”
Mr Lawlor said the lead up to Christmas was an ideal time for Aussies to snap up the ‘ultimate’ Queensland holiday and help to support the Queensland tourism industry.
“Biddings starts from as low as $1 but the competition can be fierce,” he said.
“But don’t worry if you miss out; all bidders will be given the opportunity to purchase the product at the regular retail price following the auction.”
