Six Queensland tourism operators spent a wintery few days in London last week on a UK and Europe new product mission, Tourism Minister Peter Lawlor said.
“The operators from Tropical North Queensland, the Whitsundays and Queensland’s Outback worked with Tourism Queensland’s UK and Europe staff to capture the attention of 65 hand-picked wholesalers and tour operators from the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and continental Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg),” Mr Lawlor said.
“They were among 28 Australian tourism operators at the UK and Europe New Product Workshop 2009, working to change UK and European perceptions of Australia as a ‘once in a lifetime’ destination.
Mr Lawlor said the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, Germany, France and Italy were key European markets for Queensland.
“More than 430,000 visitors came to Queensland from these key markets last year, supporting 6000 Queensland jobs,” Mr Lawlor said.
“We need to show that Queensland is very accessible and has a wide range of compelling experiences.
“The trade fair is a golden opportunity for the Queensland tourism operators to build and strengthen business relationships with influential UK and European tourism wholesalers.”
The six Queensland tourism operators are: Cairns Premier Reef & Island Tours; Cruise Whitsundays; Port Douglas Peninsula Boutique Hotel; Stephanie Mills Gallery Outback Tours; Shantara Resort & Spa Port Douglas; Water’s Edge Result. Last changed: Oct 06 2009 at 2:04 PM
