Minister responsible for gaming and Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor MP, today announced the latest funding boost for community groups and non-profit organisations in the area. In the latest funding round, Southport received more than $69,000 from the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund. The Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund, which uses a percentage of state revenue raised through gambling activities, offers grants of up to $150,000 to enrich and enhance community-run organisations.
“These grants are always a welcome and celebrated win for community groups around South Queensland,” said Minister Lawlor.
“It is vital that the four community benefit funds continue to contribute to local projects that develop or assist the Queensland community.
“And the funding process has just become easier for Queensland community groups.”
A new and innovative online grants management system to help not-for-profit community organisations submit their funding applications will soon be launched by the State Government.
“From the beginning of this month, community groups can lodge their funding applications online – cutting the paper trail and reducing red tape,” said Minister Lawlor.
“The new electronic system will make applying for funding less of an imposition. Better still, those community groups that are approved for funding can manage the whole process online.”
Since the inception of the Jupiters Casino Community Benefit Fund, over $80 million has been provided for more than 3190 South Queensland projects.
