The Ministerial Diary

After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I encourage everyone to follow my travels as the Minister by reading below my entries into the Minister's Diary where I will write about my latest experiences. Peter Lawlor.

If you have ever wanted to unleash your inner child then now is the time to do it! this morning I got to pat a Tiger at Dreamworld and meet SpongeBob Squarepants and friends, and you can too all for kids' prices. Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter and I launched the new $580,000 campaign this morning called 'Gold Coast Grown Up Deals'. The campaign is encouraging grown-ups to splash out on a holiday to the Gold Coast and get into attractions at children's prices and get free nights when booking accommodation. The national television, print and online campaign runs from May 8-28 and is in partnership with Tourism Queensland, Gold Coast Tourism, Flight Centre and Infinity Holidays. More than 50 tourism operators have jumped on board to offer the fantastic deals. It's the perfect time of year to try to lure Southerners who want to escape the winter temperatures to the Gold Coast for some fun in the sun.
